Portfolio: Gwerin Bro Ddyfi Folk

A friend in Machynlleth who’s on the committee of Gwerin Bro Ddyfi Folk asked if I’d like to quote for building their website, to promote the folk festivals and other events the committee organises in the town throughout the year – the best-known of which is Gwyl Y Pethau Bychain over the St David’s Day weekend.

The committee wanted to be able to sell virtual tickets through the website as well as at the venues, so we needed to devise systems that would enable them to do this without accidentally over-selling tickets. Of course, the website needed to be bilingual, and working in WooCommerce bilingually can be a bit fiddly so it took a fair bit of concentration, but everything was working perfectly well in advance of the festival.

The website took plenty of orders for tickets for Gwyl y Pethau Bychain 2020, and part of my ongoing work with the committee involves processing the online orders as well as keeping the website updated and maintained. Sadly, the coronavirus outbreak and resulting lockdown has meant a temporary halt to events like this, but we’re hopeful it won’t be too long before the twmpaths and clog dancing will re-commence!

Debs was brilliant. I was really impressed with her professionalism, attention to detail and most of all hard work (particularly when we had a tight deadline and she pulled out all the stops to get our website finished and online).
