Portfolio: Let It Bee Flower Bombs
I’d been following Let It Bee Flower Bombs on Facebook for a while, after being targeted by one of owner Hailey’s sponsored posts. I loved the concept of flower bombs (little lumps of clay and soil with native wildflower seeds embedded in them) and I loved Hailey’s social media tone of voice.
What I didn’t love, however, was her Shopify website! Hailey had struggled to get it set up, and was also struggling to find the words to write her website copy. A visit to her website left me frustrated enough to send a private message to Let It Bee’s Facebook page, selling my copywriting services – something I pretty much never do!
Hailey responded positively and we got chatting about the website and I said a full-on ecommerce store was probably overkill for one product… would she be interested in a one-pager WordPress website instead? After looking through my portfolio Hailey said she’d love to work with me, so we got cracking right away.
I’d not used ecommerce on my one-pagers before, so it was a bit of an experiment – but one of those wonderful experiments that just works out perfectly! I tried a couple of simple PayPal plugins to avoid going “full ecommerce” – but without the ability to restrict sales to the UK, it became clear that only trusty old WooCommerce would do. As there’s only one product at the moment (Hailey plans to introduce other products at a later date) there was no need for a ‘shop’ page, just a simple ‘click to buy’ button on the website’s main page. It’s such a simple solution but it works perfectly – pop over and give it a go, and help your local pollinators out in the process!
