Marchnad Lleu is a community group very local to me, holding a monthly market for farmers, producers, makers and charity/community stallholders in Penygroes.

They came to me looking for a ‘brochure-plus’ website; larger than a standard brochure site, with the ability to list their stallholders’ details and information about other events in the community, bilingually.

Michelle’s brief was that as the group’s logo had been designed by a pupil at a local school, the website should have a bit of a ‘hand made’ look about it. I therefore went for a kind of notice board design, with planks of wood in the background and the content largely enclosed in boxes surrounded by dashed borders, in keeping with the mockup Michelle sent me.

Working with so much content in two languages was quite a tall order, and I won’t say there was definitely no confusion along the way! But my working relationship with Michelle was very good and we were able to bat ideas back and forth until we got to where we needed to be.

Finally, I wrote an absolute BIBLE of a user manual for the group, and provided Michelle with an afternoon’s training so that she could get to grips with managing such a varied range of content.

The Marchnad Lleu committee is absolutely delighted with the new website, and Michelle very kindly provided the following testimonial:

“We chose Debs to do our website because she was local, in budget, used WordPress, and other websites she had created were impressive. Working with Debs has been really easy, we very quickly had a framework set up which really helped to organise content and ensure none was missing, particularly as the site was bilingual. Communication was excellent and succinct, and the training was well explained and thorough. Debs always had time to answer questions. We are all really pleased with the site design and look, and proud that it showcases our work on a easily navigable and accessible site. Highly reccomend, thanks Debs, great job.”
